Getting Around

Four wheels bad... Do you need always to take the car? Cars are less efficient when used for very short journeys, when cycling or walking may be an alternative. If you do a lot of driving, consider taking part in an ‘eco-driving’ scheme to become a better driver, producing fewer emissions per mile.

Sharing makes sense: consider joining a lift sharing scheme, or advertising for others who do the same commute to work. It could save you money, make a big difference to your own carbon footprint, and you might actually enjoy the company!

Two wheels good.....for short journeys within Cholsey the bicycle is a real option. If you aren’t a regular cyclist, look our for bike clinics where your bike can be checked, and for schemes where you can re-learn the pleasures of two wheels.

Let the train take the strain: it’s tempting to hop onto a cheap flight from one of the many airports in the southeast, and get away from it all....however flying is actually quite stressful, both for the planet and for the passengers. Only a short train ride to London and you can connect with trains heading for all corners of the continent. Check out the excellent website by the man in seat sixty-one to see how best to get to a range of European countries by train.
